Model Portfolio Shoot – Leah Lockwood
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with a rising model, Leah Lockwood. We had a great stylist on set, one of the best I’ve worked with in fact, the incredbly talented Mr. Joey Bevan. Some of you may know Joey from his work with BINTM – Britain’s and Ireland’s Next Top Model and the famous vegetable dress he made for the Ideal Home Exhibition. On the brushes we had the equally talented Hari Lawman.
Needless to say, with talent like that on hand this was not going to be an ordinary shoot.
The Model Portfolio Shoot…
Our theme for the portfolio shoot was vintage lingerie. Lingerie is always fun to shoot and whilst technically very easy to do, it can be challenging artistically. My goal with Leah’s shoot was fashion images, not tacky images.
Joey had made a great job with the styling, putting together 2 fabulous looks for Leah that worked really well as you can see from the backstage video above. After a quick “warm-up” shoot to make some commercial images for Leah it was into hair and make-up whilst I build and lit the set for the first look.
Making use of the damask wallpaper and a few props it was quick to build the set. Lighting it is always fun. There’s never a perfect way and for the most part we rely on the equipment available in the studio. In this case, just a softbox and reflectors.
The shoot was great fun and huge thanks to Harri for not only doing a fantastic job of Leah’s make-up but also grabbing a few backstage shots of me too 🙂
Hope you enjoy the video.
